Some home projects can be tricky and difficult to pull off. This is particularly so if you don’t have the right equipment for the job. Some of the problems you might come across include not getting the results you are interested in, as well as spending too much time on the project. To ensure that you have an easy time with it, you should consider planning for it before you can start the project. In order to do this, however, you would need to have a clear understanding of which equipment you will need. For instance, you will often need eye bolts to fasten different types of lines.

The difference between eye bolts and other types of fasteners

Unlike stainless steel socket head cap screws and Inconel hex head cap screws, the eye bolts are usually designed to have a loop for the head. This loop can be used to keep in place items such as wires. Examples of this include when you are installing new curtains or hanging lines in the house. These bolts are usually made of materials such as stainless steel. However, when you are purchasing them, you need to find out what material they are made out of, since some manufacturers may use substandard materials to manufacture them.

How they are installed

In order to install the eye bolts, you will often need to first install a pilot hole that is slightly smaller than the diameter of the fastener’s threaded section. This way, you can then put the bolt place tightly. If you are going to place it in a material such as concrete, you can also drill a fairly large hole, and then put a piece of wood in it that you can then use to drill the pilot hole.
This is because the eye bolts may not penetrate tough materials such as concrete even if you first drill a pilot hole in them. Once the eye bolt is in place, you can then pass the line through the eye with ease. Most of them are designed to have a thread that can go past the material you are anchoring them in, so that you can further tighten them using a bolt.

Selecting the right types

If you are going to do a DIY project, you will need to carefully select the best bolt for the project. You will need to take into account various variables, including the load that you are going to expose the eye bolt to. If you are going to use the eye bolt to support very heavy loads, you should select one that has been made to withstand this. You can ask the manufacturer or vendor for information about the limits that such bolts can withstand before breaking. This will help you find the safest ones.
Ideally, you should make sure that the bolts are made out of marine grade stainless steel. These tend to be resistant to most forms of damage including rusting due to environmental conditions. They also tend to look pleasing for longer, making them ideal for aesthetic reasons as well.

In 1971 I accepted a sales position at Star Stainless Screw Co., Totowa, NJ working in inside sales and later as an outside salesman, having a successful career at Star I had the desire with a friend to start our own fastener distribution company in 1980 named: Divspec, Kenilworth, NJ. This was a successful adventure but ended in 1985 with me starting Melfast in August 1985 and have stayed competitive and successful to date. Melfast serves the OEM market with approximately 400 accounts nationally.
