Many families have decided that they when they build their new homes they want it to be more earth friendly.  As people are moving from the sub-urbs into more rural areas to escape the city they are exploring their alternative energy options.  They are finding that there are many ways that they can implement alternative energy systems to heat their home and power the electricity. By building these systems themselves, they can do it at a very reasonable cost. Using easy to find Building Fasteners such as Heavy Hex Bolts, Heavy Hex Screws, or Stainless Cap Screws help keep this cost down.
Alternative energy systems like wind turbines are also very friendly to your wallet.  You will find that if you have your own energy system for your home you will have less need to rely on outside sources for energy and your bills will be much lower.  With only a little bit of an investment you will soon find that you can lower your monthly bills and you can help the environment at the same time.
One of the more popular forms of alternative energy that home dwellers are investigating is wind generators.  Through the use of combines and an electrical generator, wind generators can give a home the power it needs without using up valuable earth resources.  However, building a wind generator on your own requires that you have the proper knowledge and the proper tools.  To be sturdy you need to use quality nuts and bolts and other fixtures.

When you build a wind generator for your home, here are a few things you should keep in mind:

  • Choose a location where your wind generator can receive the best wind velocity.  It is best to find a place where the generator can be higher up.
  • You can store excess energy that is stored with rechargeable batteries.
  • Your tower needs to be sturdy.  Since it is higher up it will need to withstand heavy winds and will need to be secured properly.  Using quality nuts and bolts is one of the things you can do to ensure that your wind tower will be held in place no matter how high the winds get.  Also keep in mind that winds will come from different directions so choose your location carefully.
  • The placement of your blades and the size of your blades must be equal to capture the maximum wind.  They must be secure and unmoving so that wind can move through them at an even pace, so the nuts and bolts that hold them together must be strong.
  • Wires establish connectivity between all devices so make sure that they are held in place securely.  Choose a strong cable and secure it carefully with the right nuts and bolts.

With the right wind generator, your home will have renewable energy that minimizes the use of our earth’s non-renewable resources.  It can be stored for future use with rechargeable batteries.  With a little bit of research and the right tools and equipment and the quality nuts and bolts to hold everything in place, you can build a good wind generator for your home that will be more cost efficient than other generator systems.

Started my career in the fastener world in 1969 at, Parker Kalon Corp. a NJ based screw manufacturer located in Clifton, NJ working in inventory control, scheduling secondary production and concluding there in purchasing. In 1971 I accepted a sales position at Star Stainless Screw Co., Totowa, NJ working in inside sales and later as an outside salesman, having a successful career at Star I had the desire with a friend to start our own fastener distribution company in 1980 named: Divspec, Kenilworth, NJ. This was a successful adventure but ended in 1985 with me starting Melfast in August 1985 and have stayed competitive and successful to date. Melfast serves the OEM market with approximately 400 accounts nationally.
