When you need to build a swimming pool, either for domestic or commercial purposes, one of the issues you might have to deal with is how to ensure that the cost of running it will be minimal. This is an issue that many take for granted, with deleterious effects later on. When you don’t pay attention to issues such as quality during the initial design and construction phase, you may end up with a pool that will require frequent maintenance. In some cases, overlooking such issues will affect more than the pool. For instance, when it’s not properly installed, some of the water may leak and cause damage to your basement in the long run.
In order to avoid this, it’s always important to be very keen on the decisions you make during the planning of the construction. One of these would be to ensure that you install the pump correctly. In order to do this correctly, one of the factors you will need to consider is the type of fastening you need to do.

Why this is important

Using the wrong fasteners has a number of effects when it comes to the longevity of the pump. One of these is that it when the pump is not properly fixed, the vibration could result in loosening of the fasteners resulting in progressive damage to the pump. In addition to that, they could also end up rusting which will have the same effect.
Improper pump fastening will therefore result in increased running costs for the pool, and it may make it more difficult to use as well. It has also been noted that in some cases, improper functioning of the pump can make it unsafe. One of the functions of a swimming pool water pump is that it aids in removal of debris and some microorganisms from the pool water. When it’s not functioning properly, such systems may fail and you may end up with a pool that has potentially toxic water.

The main way of avoiding such a problem is by ensuring that the fastening is done well. You may need to consult your vendor, who will then advise you on which types of fasteners to get for a swimming pool pump. Some of the features you should be looking for in such fasteners include:

  • They should be strong enough to resist vibration
  • They should be non-corrosive
  • They should be electrically inert

Of course, for your vendor to advise you properly, they will need to have a lot of experience in such matters. You will therefore need to consult one who has a lot of experience. Preferably, they should have supplied fasteners for pool installation in the past. Inconel hex nuts and nitronic 50 socket head cap screws are commonly used for such applications. You should consider using them for the above effects.
If you are constructing a pool, you should remember that the cost of maintenance can be reduced by simply planning on the installation properly. Using the above guidelines, you can do this by fastening the pump properly.
